Before reporting a missed bin collection, it is worth knowing the most common reasons a bin is left behind. If any of these apply, reporting will not result in a return visit and you will need to correct the issue before your next collection day.

Bin was not out on time. Most UK councils require bins to be at the kerbside by 6am or 6.30am. A bin put out after the vehicle has passed is not a missed collection.
Wrong materials inside. A contaminated bin, one containing items that should not be in that container, is refused rather than missed. The crew may leave a tag explaining why.
